Call for communities to nominate their local mobile phone blackspot

17 September, 2018

The Australian Government is calling on mobile black spot nominations from local, territory and state governments as well as Federal Members of Parliament, to identify locations for the next round of the $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program. Local communities are encouraged to get in touch with their Federal Member of Parliament or local council to nominate mobile black spot locations.

The Government will invest $25 million of Mobile Black Spot Program funding towards a fourth round, to deliver improved mobile coverage to more regional and remote communities across Australia.

Round 4 of the program will target regional and remote black spot locations across Australia. Input will be sought from state, territory and local governments, as well as business and community organisations to address locations that will provide strong economic or social benefits to communities including schools, hospitals and emergency facilities.

The Government will soon call for applications from carriers to be selected through a competitive process. For more information on the program visit: www.communications.gov.au/mbsp
