Chinese public school seeks Australian partnership

22 February, 2019

A fast growing public school in Shanghai is seeking an Australian school partner to cooperate on study-tours to Australia, two-way student and/or teacher exchange programs and curriculum development.

The Experimental School of Foreign Languages Affiliated to East China Normal University (ESFL) was jointly founded by East China Normal University (ECNU) and the People’s Government of Putuo District in 2014. Located in Shanghai, ESFL is a public school offering education from years one to nine. The school currently has around 1,500 students and 126 teachers in three campuses. ESFL also functions as a teaching and research centre for ECNU and a Chinese cultural experience centre for international students.

Since 2016, ESFL has been designated as one of the partner schools for the China-UK Math Teacher Exchange Program. Since 2018, ESFL has cooperated with ECNU’s Institute of Brain and Education Innovation on a significant nationwide program — the Child Brain Development Program. ESFL also maintains a formal sister school relationship with the Collège Jean Moulin in Lyon, France, with support from the Consulate-General of France in Shanghai.

ESFL is seeking to collaborate with an Australian school in the following areas:

  • Three- to four-week study tours to Australia, twice a year, with a cohort of 40-100 students
  • Student and/or teacher exchange programs
  • Australian culture-related curriculum development

For further information please refer to the attached ESFL bilingual introduction and inquiry form. Interested schools can submit an expression of interest form to Crystal Liang — Education Manager, Austrade Shanghai. Submissions are due 8 March 2019.
