EOIs for Bio-security Qld Ministerial Advisory Committee now open

29 March, 2019

Communities, businesses and industries are invited to nominate for membership of the Bio-security Queensland Ministerial Advisory Committee, which will help to guide Queensland’s statewide bio-security systems and protections.

Expressions of interest are being sought from people with a commitment to upholding our bio-security systems and representing Queensland perspectives in national discussions around how to best guard us against plant and animal pests and diseases and also invasive plants and animals.

The vision for the advisory group is that each of the plant, animal, and pest sectors will be represented. As well as agricultural industry, environmental and scientific nominees, we are also looking for people with skills in information technology, or social science. This is in recognition that bio-security practices are broadening.

The Bio-security Queensland Ministerial Advisory Committee will have 10 members, including a chairperson.

Applicants should have demonstrated experience in areas such as:

  • policy development
  • bio-security investment/risk/economics
  • social or behavioural science
  • bio-security intelligence and data gathering
  • research and development
  • biodiversity and/or bush regeneration.

Nominations are due by 10 May 2019 and must have the full support of the person’s employer, sponsoring industry or community group.

More information and submission guidelines are available online at www.daf.qld.gov.au
