Heywire Youth Innovation Grants

1 April, 2019

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and its donor partners collaborate with ABC Heywire to help communities take action on the ideas generated by young Australians who attend the annual Heywire Regional Youth Summit.

Heywire engages rural youth in the national conversation, and selected regional youth converged on Canberra in February to meet with His Excellency the Governor-General, local Members, Senators and Federal Ministers, representatives from government departments, philanthropists, business and community leaders and youth mentors to develop practical solutions to improve the lives of young people.

FRRR first joined forces with the ABC in 2013 and the positive impact of the grants we’ve awarded so far is being felt in 140 rural and regional communities around Australia. This short video showcases how some of the ideas have been implemented to create real change.

In 2019, FRRR and our donor partners are again offering $100,000 in funding to assist not-for-profit community-based organisations in rural, regional and remote Australia adopt and act on one of the seven innovative Heywire project ideas. The communities selected to pilot the programs will implement their projects in the next 12 months from September 2019.
